Translucent roller blinds from KeJe: ambience and privacy in one

What is a translucent blind?

A translucent roller blind is a curtain that lets daylight through, but restricts the view into the room. Please note: translucent does not mean translucent. These fabrics allow a subtle incidence of light, keeping a room pleasantly lit even when the blind is down.

Free-hanging or framed? The differences explained

At KeJe, you can choose between two systems for translucent roller blinds: free-hanging or framed. Both have their own advantages, depending on the room and application.

1. Free-hanging blind

A free-hanging blind is mounted directly on or above the frame and hangs freely in front of the window. This is the most traditional form of blind.

Advantages:

  • Flexible to install, even for non-standard window shapes.
  • Larger fabric width possible.
  • Easy to use and assemble.
  • Can also be ordered motorised.

Light transmission:
With free-hanging roller blinds, light does not only pass through the fabric, but also along the sides. This provides extra light, which is perfect for living rooms, kitchens and offices where natural light is desired.

2. Framed roller blind

KeJe's framed roller blinds are placed in the window frame without drilling and are mounted securely in an aluminium frame. The fabric runs between two guides, ensuring a tight finish and perfect fit.

Advantages:

  • No screws or drilling required.
  • Sleek, modern look.
  • Reduced light incidence along the sides.
  • Frame available in any RAL colour.

Light transmission:
As the fabric runs tightly in the frame, light is mainly transmitted through the fabric and not along the edges. This gives an even, soft light image and increases privacy. Ideal for rooms where you want light but less visibility, such as bathrooms, bedrooms (when full blackout is not required) or a street-facing workplace.

For which rooms are translucent roller blinds suitable?

KeJe's translucent roller blinds are an excellent solution for:

  • Living rooms: atmospheric daylight, without direct viewing.
  • Kitchens: retain natural light, easy to keep clean.
  • Home offices: soothing diffuse light without screen reflection.
  • Bathrooms: privacy while retaining daylight (if not directly in front of shower/laundry area).
  • Bedrooms (where full blackout is not necessarily required): a soft light start in the morning.
