Window decoration in dark rooms
Dark rooms in your home? Check out our solutions to make dark rooms appear brighter.
Window decoration in dark rooms
Some rooms in your home are a bit darker. For example, due to smaller windows, or tall trees or bushes that block free light. Bedrooms and bathrooms are often darker rooms, but a living room or study can also be somewhat dark. You would rather not make these rooms even darker. In fact, you want to benefit as much as possible from daylight in your living room. At the same time, you also want to add atmosphere and probably limit privacy. With the right window coverings, you can still make a dark room a little 'brighter'.
Brighten your room; choose neutral colours.
A dark room can be made to look lighter by choosing light, natural tones. On the wall, floor and also when it comes to window decoration. Think white, beige and sand. These natural colours also combine beautifully with each other. Light colours look friendly and harmonious and give a nice feeling when you walk into the room. Looking at window decoration, there are several options for your window.
Pleated blinds
A pleated blind has a slightly minimalist look and sophisticated appearance by itself, and is therefore very suitable to use for smaller windows and dark rooms. Choose a pleated blind in a nice light colour and set at the desired position. Our Splendid Pliss pleated blinds have top down bottom up operation and can therefore be operated both ways. Want to let as much light through as possible when the pleated blind is fully closed? Then choose a transparent fabric. This limits the view, but you can still see in from outside. Prefer a little more privacy? Choose a translucent fabric. This fabric has no see-through.
Blinds
Maximise outside light in a dark room? Choose white blinds for the window. The white horizontal slats catch the daylight from outside and then bounce it inside. Of course, you can also choose to pull the blind up a little during the day and close it completely in the evening. With our Lower Blinds, this can be done via a handy pull bar. The advantage of this is that you don't have a loose cord hanging down.
Roller blinds
In principle, you can always use a roller blind, even in a darker room. Again, it is best to choose a roller blind in a light fabric. And if you always roll the blind down partially, it is wise to choose a translucent fabric.
Also for your skylight
Loft rooms are often fitted with a single skylight, which often makes the room a bit darker. Some of our products are also excellent to use in combination with a skylight. That's because the window decoration itself is sandwiched between an aluminium frame and you operate it with a pull bar. The window covering always stays tight between the frame.
