This is how to maintain window decoration
How do you keep your window decoration nice and clean? We would like to tell you more about the maintenance of different types of window decoration.
Here's how to maintain your window decoration
Your window decoration... you want to keep it clean. Because here too, if you keep it clean, it will stay beautiful longer. But how do you clean your window coverings? It's easier with some types of window coverings than others. We would like to tell you more about the maintenance of different types of window coverings.
Dust and stains on your window decoration
Your window decoration always catches some dust over time. From inside, but also from outside through open windows. And even a little stain cannot be avoided. Especially not if your window decoration hangs in front of the kitchen window near the kitchen sink, for example. Fortunately, you can clean this yourself, but with caution. Window decoration is usually made of fabric and therefore vulnerable. We therefore advise against cleaning with aggressive cleaning agents, because it is a shame if a cleaning agent ends up doing more harm than good.
Cleaning pleated blinds
Pleated blinds are beautiful of course. Because of the pleats, the curtain can only catch a bit more dust. Especially on light pleated blinds, you can see this dust over time. You can remove dust by using the hoover in combination with a soft (and of course clean) brush head. Many hoovers have this attachment as standard. Turn the hoover on at the lowest suction power and gently vacuum the dust from your pleated curtain, going back and forth across the curtain. Prefer not to use the hoover? Then you can also use a feather duster or dry (microfibre) cloth. Discover a stain while dusting? Then use a slightly damp cloth and try to gently dab the stain out. Do not rub, as this will not do any good to the structure of the fabric. If you have cleaned the curtain with a damp cloth, let it dry thoroughly before folding it again.
How to clean blinds
Dust will also be left on the slats of your venetian blinds. You can remove this dust with a special blind cleaner, which is available in several versions these days. But you can also use a dry cloth, feather duster or soft-bristled toothbrush. You can dust the top and bottom slat by slat, or close the blinds so that the slats overlap slightly. You can also clean the blinds using a hoover in combination with the soft brush attachment. Again, handle the slat carefully and if necessary, grab it to avoid breaking it. Stains and rings can be removed with lukewarm water and a little green soap. Because cleaning often requires more pressure on the slat, it is important to support it. Avoid using all-purpose cleaners. They may contain caustic ingredients and damage the colour of the blind.
And here's how to clean a roller blind
Let's not forget the maintenance of your blind. A roller blind is actually very easy to maintain. Dust can be removed with a hoover with a soft brush, but also with a dry cloth and...here it comes again; a feather duster. Stains can be removed with the familiar recipe of a microfibre cloth and lukewarm water, possibly with green soap. Dab away the stain and avoid rubbing hard. This can create weird circles in your blind that you won't be able to get rid of.
Cleaning aluminium frame
All our window decorations have an aluminium frame. You can simply dust this frame as well, and clean it with a damp cloth if necessary. Of course, the big advantage of KeJe window decoration is that you can remove the entire frame, making it even easier and more convenient to clean.
